Yen Nguyen, LPC She/They

I've spent the most of my career being apart of the communities that I serve which has given me the insight towards empowering my clients through a socio-political-cultural lens. My goal is to provide you with individualized care as we work together to find possibilities that you'd like to work towards. The work begins with our identities, how you conceptualize your world and what you're currently struggling with. I invite you to explore how your identities contribute to your overall experience with yourself and your communities. Our journey is not on a linear path but rather a heartfelt one that will give us the passion necessary to resolve your pain and distress through balance and understanding.

Taking the first steps towards healing is a courageous endeavor and it does not have to feel like a lonely one. I seek to process with you as we discover ways to create more joy, less distress, more meaning in your relationships and your life.

I identify as a queer, 1st generation Viet person who has a background in LGBTQ+ research, a consultant for creating diverse and inclusive work spaces and am an Army Res Veteran. I am a graduate of the University of Louisville in Counseling Psychology where I spent time researching Trans/GNC* experiences in the VA healthcare system. I also spent time throughout my life and career working with LGBTQ+ youth in my various communities. I have experiences working with the veteran population and, as a veteran myself, I understand the difficulty in transitioning to civilian life and adjusting to life after. I am trained in several modalities and use them thoughtfully and in an integrative way according to your needs which includes; mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic therapy, eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive processing therapy, interpersonal therapy and psychodynamic approaches.
